The Basics

Which devices run the BSF app?

The BSF app supports iOS 13.0 or later on an iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad, as well as Android and Tablet devices running Android version 5 or later.  The BSF app is no longer avaliable for download on Amazon Fire tablets and is not avaliable for Macbooks. 

For optimal performance, use the app on supported devices made after 2014.  

Why can’t I find the BSF app on the app store?

If you cannot find the BSF app at your device’s app store it may not be supported by the version of your device or not available in your region.

What new features are included in the latest app release?

In the latest version of the BSF app,

  • You will log in using your MyBSF.org or bsfonline.org credentials
  • You will have the option to synchronize lesson answers to a cloud service (your information will be encrypted)
  • You can listen to and download audio lesson notes through the app
  • You can listen to, watch, or download lecture audio/video through the app. Please note BSF Online members will receive audio lecture podcasts with no video 
  • Question font size is now selectable
  • App display and lesson note font size is now selectable
  • Role and Class is now selectable
Does the BSF app require internet access?

Internet access is required for the following:

  • Intial login 
  • Downloading notes and lectures 
  • Synching answers
  • MyBSF access 
  • BSF Online access
  • BSF App Support  
  • Lesson updates 
  • App updates 
  • Accessing Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy 

Internet access is NOT required for the following: 

  • Answering and viewing questions 
  • Streaming lectures and audio notes after they have been downloaded 
  • Viewing notes and scripture references after they have been downloaded 
Can I download Student Program lessons though the BSF app?

No, the app does not currently support completion of the BSF Student Program lesson. 

Can I download materials from the BSF app?

Yes, Select the Share icon located in the top right corner to download lesson content displayed on the BSF App screen.

MyBSF and BSF Online

Can I access MyBSF or BSF Online from the BSF app?

Yes, to access MyBSF, select Support > MyBSF. To access BSF Online, select Support > BSF Online.  If you are registered in a group, you will be routed to the sign in page.  If you are not registered in a group, you will be routed to the Find a Group webpage.

How do I sync answers between my devices?

The app does not sync to other devices or the MyBSF or BSF Online website. It only syncs to a cloud server. When you install the BSF App on any iOS or Android device and login, you should see your “synced” answers that are stored on the cloud server.  The Backup and Sync option has been added under the Settings tab.  The default is on, so the app supports synching unless the option is turned off.

Note: The Answer Transfer Tool is still available if you choose to disable the Backup and Sync option and want to transfer answers between devices or from CBSF.

Can I print my answers from the app?

You can print lesson questions and answers from the app. Simply navigate to a lesson, select any day, then tap the print icon  in the top right corner.

Note: Questions and answers for all six days will be printed no matter which day is selected. Font size is selectable by going to Settings > Print Font Size.

How are lesson answers stored for security?

Answers are encrypted and saved in the user’s account using a cloud-based service.

Can I move my CBSF answers to the BSF app?

Yes, use the transfer tool by selecting Settings > Advanced. 

Can I change the displayed Bible translation and language?

You can change the display language of the Bible as desired by going to Settings > Display Language. 

Our in-app Bible utilizes the NIV translation. Want to request a specific translation be added to a future version of the app? Submit feedback by clicking here.

Troubleshooting

Can I remove downloaded files?

The BSF app stores your lessons and in-app Bibles in a “downloaded cache.” By removing these files, the app will automatically redownload them from our BSF support service. Audio note and lecture downloads can be removed to free up device memory by going to Settings > Advanced > Remove Downloaded Files.   

Do I need to manually check for question updates?

BSF occasionally publishes updates to lessons and translation. For example, some lesson languages may not be available at the beginning of the study year.

The BSF app automatically checks for lesson updates daily. However, you can update manually at Settings > Advanced > Check for Lesson Update.

What happened to the Answer Transfer Tool?

To find the Answer Transfer Tool, go to Settings > Advanced.
